EUR/USD

Euro strengthened against the US dollar during Asian trading. The US currency is still weak as a response to yesterday’s statement by US Secretary of State Steven Mnuhin that the weakening of the US currency favors US foreign trade. Today, at 11:00 am, Stiven Mnuhin speaks at the Davos panel, attended by the IMF executive director, Kristine Lagard, which may further affect the US dollar. Also, today at 13:45, the Europian Central Bank  will make a decision of the future changes in interest rates, while at  14:30 will be held a press conference by ECBs president Mario Draghi which can further effect on this currency pair. During Asian trading, Euro strengthened against the US dollar by 0.23%.

 

GBP/USD

The British pound has strengthened against the US dollar during Asian trading. Today, at 11:00 am, US Secretary of State Steven Mnuhin speaks at the Davos panel, attended by the IMF executive director, Krisitin Lagard, which may reflect on the course of this currency pair. Aslo, during the day will be published a series of US fundamental news. During Asian trading, the British pound has strengthened against the US dollar by 0.25%.

 

USD/JPY

The US dollar weakened against the Japanese yen during Asian trading. The US currency continues to weaken after yesterday’s disappointing economic data from the United States, as well as comments by Secretary of Finance Steven Mnuhin that the weakening of the dollar corresponds to the US foreign trade. Today, at 11:00 am, US Secretary of State Steven Mnuhin speaks at the Davos panel, attended by the IMF executive director, Krisitin Lagard, which may reflect on the course of this currency pair. Aslo, during the day will be published a series of US fundamental news. During Asian trading, the US dollar weakened against the Japanese yen by 0.14%.

 

GOLD

The gold price strengthened during Asian trading. After the weakening of the US currency, the price of gold reached its highest value in the last year. During Asian trading, the gold price strengthened by 0.44%.

 

OIL

During Asian trading, the price of crude oil has strengthened. The US government report shows a drop in the stock of this energy for the tenth consecutive week, which has affected the rise in crude oil prices. Also, OPEC and Russia’s efforts to reduce production by re-adjusting the oil derivatives market further support the growth of crude oil prices. During Asian trading, the price of crude oil increased by 1.02%.

 

DAX30

Dax dropped into the middle. The biggest gains were noted by companies from the food, technology and service sectors. Deutsche Boerse (+ 1.87%) and the loser RWE (-3.46%) were selected from the winner. The volatility index, which reflects the sentiment of the investor in terms of expected volatility in the future period, grew by 5.39% and is at 13.46 points.
